Yes that is a weird picture of me showing you my visa. Arli's looks the same, incidentally. We were hoping they'd be big and take up a lot of room and incorporate a lot of color and official-looking stamps and foreign writing. And they do! It's the first thing in my new passport. I also took the plastic cover off my passport so that it will eventually look old and used and worldly. Lame? Maybe. But these new passports with the chip in em are really too stiff and don't seem very willing to be scuffed up. We shall see. But I sort of want to skate around the kitchen on my new one.
Also, I was early to the visa place yesterday so I wasted a few minutes in Urbane Outfitters. I almost bought a Snoopy tee shirt. I forgot how much I love Snoopy. Normally I think that people with cartoon characters tattooed on their bodies are lame. But I would have a Snoopy tattoo, that is how much a love that guy. I also wanted to buy a pair of jeans, but of course that is out of the question due to the whole trip to Asia and quitting job thing. But I wanted to memorialize the brand here so I can buy a pair in 6 months when I have a job again. Comune. That shit is straight dope. Fly, even. This is the pair I wanted. I will never forget you, Comune Gavin Skinny jeans. I actually tried to pitch it to Arli by saying that they would make me cooler looking and more hire-able should I need to find a bartending or coffee-shop type job. No dice.
We also moved all of our stuff to NYC this weekend. It involved a lot of back n forth, in n out, up n down, and round n round, if you catch my drift. But it's over now, thanks in no small part to Robin and Kaare's willingness to donate their storage space to our cause. And to Arli's willingness to drive a UHaul van from DC to NYC, over the GW bridge, and down through all 8 miles (or is it 12 miles?) of Manhattan. The weekend was topped off by a visit to Spot and a sampling of most of their desserts...OMG.
